Cutting-edge Corsight AI facial recognition technology tops NIST bias tests

Corsight AI’s Latest Algorithm Paves the Way for NIST FRVT Testing by Addressing Bias and Minimizing False-Positive Demographic Effects

NEW YORK, July 21, 2022 /PRNewswire/ — Corsight AItoday announced that its facial recognition technology ranked first in the latest facial recognition technology benchmarking test (FRVT 1:1 Verification), conducted by the National Institute of Standards (NIST), to proactively reduce bias. The results show that his software achieves revolutionary advances in reducing discrimination within the algorithm.

NIST is widely recognized for setting national and international standards in the facial recognition industry. It aims to address pervasive issues and identify norms of bias and discrimination in its testing protocols.

In its tests, bias is measured based on the false match rate (FMR) of different demographic groups. If the FMR for black male/female subject groups is higher than the FMR for white/male subjects, it means the algorithm is more likely to misidentify subjects within that demographic.

With Corsight’s latest algorithm, FMR for black female/male subjects is now the same as white female/male subjects, meaning Corsight AI has significantly less bias than the competition, even when measured by compared to other major facial recognition platforms.

Corsight is currently used as NIST’s benchmark in its reports – serving as a standard for the industry as a whole. These results not only represent an exciting result for Corsight, but also a crucial development for this emerging technology.

Tony PorterChief Privacy Officer at Corsight AI comments: “We are absolutely delighted with these results. We are delighted as this is another step forward in combating claims that bias is undermining the effectiveness of facial recognition technology. The argument that facial recognition software can’t be fair is frozen in time and the performance of Corsight’s latest submission demonstrates it.”

He adds, “As for our latest privacy release*, this NIST test shows that Corsight is moving towards a 360-degree approach to trusted facial recognition. Our solution is accurate, fast and, according to NIST, can now be We’re proud of the results, but we don’t see them as “resolved biases. We’re working hard to expand test cases with NIST and provide a balanced solution in the real world.”
