Pixar Reveals ‘Elemental’ Concept Art, Dates 27th Film for Summer 2023 – Deadline

Pixar has ditched concept art for its upcoming feature film, Elementary, which hits theaters on June 16 (see below). Disney had already reserved the date for Father’s Day weekend for an untitled Pixar film.

Directed by Peter Sohn (The good dinosaur, Partly cloudy short) and produced by Denise Ream (The good dinosaur, Cars 2), Elementary journey alongside an unlikely couple, Ember and Wade, to a city where the inhabitants of fire, water, earth and air live together. The fiery young woman and the fast-paced man are about to discover something basic: all they actually have in common.

The film was inspired by Sohn’s childhood in New York.

“My parents immigrated from Korea in the early 1970s and built a bustling grocery store in the Bronx,” the manager said. “We were among many families who ventured into a new country with hopes and dreams, mixing us all into one big salad bowl of cultures, languages and beautiful little neighborhoods. This is what led me to Elementary.”

“Our story is based on the classic elements – fire, water, earth and air,” added the director. “Some things go together, some don’t. What if these elements were alive?

Pixar, after being kicked out of Disney+ with turn red and Soul during the pandemic, returns to theaters this Father’s Day weekend, June 17-19, with the toy story origin story Light year. The studio showed the first half hour of the pic to great response at CinemaCon last month.
